What is ClearMeet?
ClearMeet is a real-time transcription app and AI meeting assistant for Windows 10 and 11. It writes down every word of your call as it's said, on your own PC, with no bot in the meeting. From the transcript it writes a summary, action items and short answers to questions you're asked. It's free for 5 meetings a month.
How does real-time transcription work on your PC?
ClearMeet hears two things: the sound your PC plays, which is everyone else in the call, and your microphone, which is you. A speech model on your computer turns both into text a moment after they're said.
Nothing joins the meeting and there's nothing to install in the meeting app, so it works the same in the Zoom or Teams app, in a browser tab with Google Meet, in Webex, a Slack huddle or a phone app on your PC. Press Start on the ClearMeet bar, and the transcript fills in as people talk.
Your audio is turned into text on your PC and never leaves it. Recordings stay on your PC too.
How fast is it? Our own measurements
On our test computer with a fast graphics card, ClearMeet wrote down speech 4.7 times faster than people talk, word for word right. With no graphics card it was still 1.9 times faster.

ClearMeet or Windows Live Captions?
Windows 11 has free Live Captions built in, and it also works on your device. It shows captions on screen, but it doesn't keep them or write notes; ClearMeet keeps the whole meeting.

If you only need to follow a call in another language, Live Captions is the better free choice. If you need the words afterwards, and notes you don't have to write, ClearMeet is.
What are the limits?
ClearMeet transcribes English only for now, and it runs on Windows only. It needs the call's sound to go through your PC.
- ClearMeet writes down English speech only, for now.
- Windows 10 (version 2004) or Windows 11, 64-bit. There is no Mac, phone or web version.
- If you dial in on a separate phone, ClearMeet can't hear the call.
- It tells your words from everyone else's, but doesn't name each person.
- Recording laws differ by place: tell people when you record or transcribe a call.
Questions
Does ClearMeet upload my audio to transcribe it?
No. The sound of your call is turned into text on your own PC and never leaves it. To write notes and answers, the text of the conversation goes to our server and on to Google's Gemini model.
Does it work without a graphics card?
Yes. With no graphics card it uses a smaller speech model and, on our test computer, still wrote 1.9 times faster than people talk. A graphics card makes it faster.
Which languages can it transcribe?
English only, for now. For other languages, Windows 11's own Live Captions recognises about 20 languages, but it doesn't keep the words.
Can I get the whole transcript after the call?
Yes. Every meeting is saved with its transcript, a timeline and the key moments, and you can ask questions about it later. Copy or download the summary in one click.
Does it tell who said what?
It tells your words from everyone else's: your microphone is you, the sound from your PC is the others. It doesn't guess names for each person, because guesses were wrong too often.
