What is ClearMeet for Google Meet?
ClearMeet is an AI note taker and meeting assistant for Windows that works with Google Meet without a bot or an extension. It listens to the sound of the Meet tab and your microphone, writes the transcript, notes and action items, and shows short answers when you're asked something. Free for 5 meetings a month.
How does ClearMeet work with Google Meet?
Open the Meet call in your browser as usual and press Start on the ClearMeet bar. Because it listens to your PC, it works in Chrome, Edge or any other browser.
- Join the Google Meet call in your browser.
- Press Start on the ClearMeet bar. The transcript fills in as people talk.
- When you're asked something, click Answer latest.
- Press Stop. The summary and action items are ready to copy into your own Google Doc.
Presenting a tab or your screen? Hidden from most screen shares: on Windows 10 (version 2004) and later, most screen-sharing apps can't capture its window. It's on by default; switch it with "Hide when sharing my screen" in the tray menu or Settings.

What to know before you use it with Meet
ClearMeet runs on Windows only, so Meet on a phone or a Chromebook isn't covered. It writes down English only, for now.
- Windows 10 (version 2004) or Windows 11, 64-bit. There is no Mac, phone or web version.
- ClearMeet writes down English speech only, for now.
- If you join by phone on a separate device, ClearMeet can't hear the call.
- Recording laws differ by place: tell people when you record or transcribe a call.
Questions
Do I need Google Workspace to use ClearMeet in Meet?
No. ClearMeet listens to the sound of the Meet tab through your Windows PC, so it works with a personal Google account, a work account, or as a guest in someone else's meeting.
Is ClearMeet a Chrome extension?
No. It's a Windows app. It doesn't read the Meet page or its captions, so it works in any browser, and with other meeting apps too.
What does Google's own "Take notes for me" need?
Google says the meeting organiser needs an eligible Workspace edition or Google AI plan, such as Business Standard or higher. The notes arrive as a Google Doc shortly after the meeting ends.
Will people in the Meet call know?
Google Meet tells everyone when its own notes are on. ClearMeet doesn't announce itself, because it isn't in the call, so it's up to you: tell people when you record or transcribe.
